Marion & The Giant Marquee

Marion was very interested in the theory that we disown certain aspects of ourselves as we grow up, and look for them in other people to help complete us. If this was true, this was of course futile as the only way to complete one self was to call all these disowned aspects back to our selves and re-integrate them.

As she had recently been divorced, she had to start dealing with all kinds of things which previously were her ex-husband's tasks, such as accounting, DIY, looking after the car, and making decisions on how to do the maintenance on her home and garden.

Marion found this very unnerving and kept noticing how she was having a lot of negative and limiting thoughts along the lines of "Oh I can't do that - It's too hard - I was never any good with numbers - I can't learn that - I'll never be able to manage on my own."

She decided to try a Sanctuary intervention to find out if this might help her get access to resources she consciously knew she must have had at some time or the other, but which she felt she really did not now posses.

Marion went to the highest point in her landscape - a soaring mountain top far above cloud level, with her guide by her side.

From up there, she shouted her invitation and recall to all and any aspects of herself that had become lost, misplaced or had been sent away, to return home NOW.

By the time she returned to her central Sanctuary, the first were already starting to arrive. They were people of all ages, genders, colours and from all kinds of different periods in human history, and there were hundreds of them, with more arriving all the time by any form of transportation imaginable.

They were all milling around quite aimlessly and Marion was overwhelmed. Her guide suggested to welcome them in some way, so Marion created a giant marquee with refreshments, seating and "chill out" area for them all.

The people took to this happily, and this was the way it was left for quite a while.

Eventually, it occurred to Marion that these people couldn't stay in the marquee forever, although they seemed to be enjoying themselves and recovering condition and spirits.

She went to talk to them to find out what they would like to have happen, and everyone agreed that they would very much like to find a place they could call home, to settle down and get on with their lives.

This made sense to Marion, but worried her too, as there were so many of them and she wondered how an operation of such magnitude could best be approached. She thought about the problem for a few days, then the enlightenment arrived when she was watching a TV report about a refugee camp.

"There were Red Cross workers sitting behind tables, taking the refugee's names and details to help re-unite them with their families and arrange transport. That was it! I called forth my own internal Red Cross, and they showed up in force. Soon, the tables were set up in the marquee and every person got to tell their name, what their occupation was, and what they would like to be doing in the sanctuary, what landscape they would like to live in, what resources they needed to be getting on with their lives and so forth.  My Red Cross was marvellously well funded!"

And in no time at all, transports started to arrive to take the people to their new locations and their new lives. Marion talked to some of them, which was apparently most enlightening, before they left, and made sure there were many friendly staff and volunteers around to make them as comfortable as possible.

Now, the marquee has been taken down. In it's place remains a "Welcome Home" center for anyone who had to travel very far, and for anyone else who might still be out there and hasn't quite found their way back yet. Marion is also contemplating setting up an active task force to go out looking for lost and marooned people who might be unable to make it home by themselves.

The returning people have set up communities and villages all across Marion's internal world, and are  beginning to trade amongst one another as we speak. Some have re-settled in ancient lost cities, others have re-claimed parts that were previously wilderness.
